Penurunan Kadar Mangan (Mn) Dari Air Gambut Menggunakan Cascade Aerator Dengan Variasi Kemiringan Sudut Dan Waktu Kontak
ABSTRACT
Peat water is has a high Mn content. One way of processing to remove
Mn in to peat water is to use the aeration method. This study aims to study the
efficiency of the performance of cascade aerators in reducing Mn levels in peat
water. The method in this study using a variation of the slope of the cascade
aerator ∠60°, ∠90°, ∠120° andcontact time of 60 minutes, 90 minutes and 120
minutes. The metal content of Mn before the aeration process was 1,068 mg/l.
The results showed the highest efficiency of reducing Mn of 80,99% with an
initial concentration of 1,068 mg/l to 0,203 mg/l occurred at an angle of 120°
and a contact time of 120 minutes. The result of the allowance of 0,203 mg/l is
in accordance with the quality standard according to the Regulation of the
Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number 32 of 2017 for the Mn
content of 0,5 mg/l. The conclusion of this research is that cascade aerators can
reduce Mn levels in peat water by varying the slope of the cascade aerator and
contact time.
