Analisis Penurunan Emisi Gas Rumah Kaca Dari Bank Sampah Di Kota Pekanbaru Sebagai Rancangan Leaflet Biologi SMA Kelas X
Pekanbaru as the capital city of Riau Province has a dense population of
1,149,359 people in 2020. The increase in population rate will be followed by an
increase in people's consumption needs, resulting in a high generation of domestic
waste generated. waste is one source of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) that
affect climate change. GHG emissions from the waste sector including domestic
solid waste are generally in the form of methane (CH4) produced from landfill
and carbon dioxide (CO2) generated from open burning activities. The high gases
emitted into the air has an impact on increasing global warming and climate
change. Pekanbaru City Government through DLHK has established 70 units of
waste banks as an effort to manage community-based waste and mitigate
greenhouse gas emissions. Garbage banks have the potential to reduce greenhouse
gas (GHG) emissions because they reduce waste generation that will be disposed
of in Final Disposal Sites (TPA). Estimation of methane (CH4)
emissions resulting from landfilling is calculated based on the generation
and composition of the waste. Data on the level of emissions reduced by waste
bank activities need to be known as the first step to determine efforts to reduce
GHG emissions from the waste sector in accordance with the National Action
Plan for Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions (RAN-GRK). RAN-GRK plans to
reduce GHG emissions in the waste sector with a target of 0.048 Giga Ton CO2
reduction in 2020 with an emphasis on waste management with the 3R concept.
Based on the description above, the purpose of this research was to
determine the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions which were analyzed from
waste bank waste generation in Pekanbaru City and to determine the potential of
the research results to be used as a biology leaflet design for grade X SMA. This
research is a quantitative descriptive with a total sampling method covering
30 unit waste banks and 1 main waste bank managed by the Pekanbaru City
Environment and Cleanliness Service (DLHK). The data obtained in the form
of composition and waste generation data as well as the number of customers
were analyzed using IPCC guidelines with tier -1 accuracy.

Based on the results, it was found that the composition of waste bank waste
in Pekanbaru City was dominated by organic waste of 58.16%, while the
percentage of inorganic waste composition obtained was 41.84%. Waste bank
waste generation reduces the existing waste generation by 66,153 tons/year
(16.09%) in 2019 and by 32,075 tons/year (7.80%) in 2020. The results of the
analysis of the composition and generation of waste bank waste obtained data that
waste banks reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 0.082 Ton CO2eq / year (8.37%)
in 2019 and by 0.018 Ton CO2eq / year(1.84%) in 2020.
In conclusion, the average reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from
waste banks in Pekanbaru City is 0.05 Ton CO2eq / year or by 5.10%.
Furthermore, research data regarding waste reduction and reduction of greenhouse
gas emissions from the waste bank can be biology leaflet design for grade X High
School.
