Evaluasi Kualitas Lingkungan Perairan Berdasarkan Bio Indikator Makrozoobentos Di Danau Lau Kawar Desa Kuta Gugung Kecamatan Naman Teran Kabupaten Karo Sumatera Utara
Abstract
Macrozoobenthos can be used as a bio indicator of water quality, because the
organism is settled and it is sensitive to changes of the water quality. This research
aims to determine the types of macrozoobenthos and water quality of the Danau
Lau Kawar. This research was conducted on August to September 2020.
Samplings were conducted four times, once a weeks. The macrozoobenthos and
sediment were taken using a Van Veen Grab (20 x 20 cm). Water quality
parameters measured were temperature, organic matter, transparency, pH, BOD5,
COD and sediment fractions. Results shown that there were 5 macrozoobenthos
species that were consisted of 2 classes, namely Gastropods (Brotia costula,
Lymnaea rubiginosa, Pila ampullacea, Thiara scabra), and Bivalves
(Pilsbryoconcha exilis). Water quality parameters were as follows: temperature
21oC, organic matter 1.3% - 5.9%, brightness 56-115 cm, pH 6, BOD5 2.9-4.3
mg/L, COD 15-25 mg/L and sediment fractions of Danau Lau Kawar was gravel
sand. Based on macrozoobenthos and water quality data, it can be concluded that
the Danau Lau Kawar is moderately polluted.
