ABSTRACT
Oil palm is one of the plantation crops that acts as the mainstay of exports
and the largest contributor to foreign exchange in Indonesia, therefore it is
necessary to prepare good seeds for planting. The main factors that need to be
considered in determining and getting good quality seeds are intensive care and
genetic factors. Oil palm seeds in optimal growth and development require adequate
water and nutrients. This research aims to determine the effect of application of
liquid NPK fertilizer at different doses with a drip irrigation system on the growth
of oil palm seedlings in the main nursery to be effective and efficient. This research
was conducted experimentally using a non factorial randomized block design. The
factor consisted of different fertilizer doses consisting of five treatments, namely
NPK granule 100%, NPK soluble granule 100% with drip irrigation, NPK soluble
granule 75% with drip irrigation, NPK soluble granule 50% with drip irrigation,
NPK soluble granule 25% with drip irrigation. The treatment was repeated 4 times,
so that 20 experimental units were obtained, each experiment consisted of 4 plants,
so the total of plants was 80 plants. Parameters observed were increase in seedling
height, increase in number of leaves, increase in stem diameter, root volume, root
crown ratio, and seed quality index. The results showed that the application of 100%
soluble granule NPK fertilizer according to the recommended dose with a drip
irrigation system had a significant effect compared to the application of 100%
granule NPK fertilizer without using drip irrigation, this can be seen from the
observation of parameters. Watering which is carried out simultaneously with
fertilization through drip irrigation is proven to be able to create optimal growth of
oil palm seedlings in the main nursery to be effective and efficient.
