Gambaran Pasien Gangguan Pendengaran Di Rsud Arifin Achmad Provinsi Riau Periode Januari – Desember 2019
Hearing loss or deafness is defined as the diminishing or loss of hearing
function. Deafness is categorized into 3 types namely conductive deafness,
sensorineural deafness, and mixed deafness. Deafness is examined by pure tone
audiometry dan presented in the form of audiogram. The prevalence of deafness
in Riau Province of elder aged ≥75 years old is 0,13%. This percentage is the 3rd
highest deafness prevalence in Indonesia. The purpose of this research was to
describe the profile of deafness patients at RSUD Arifin Achmad of Riau Province
in January-December 2019 period. This was a descriptive research with cross
sectional approach by collecting and presenting the data from medical records.
The data in this research was collected from the RSUD Arifin Achmad of Riau
Province Medical Record Unit. The data obtained from 50 medical records gave
the idea that most of the deafness patients are women (52%) and the most
common age group is 55 – 64 years old (20%). The most common deafness was
mixed deafness (32%) and profound was the most common degree of hearing loss
(26%). The result of this research gave the idea that the most common cause of
hearing loss is old age (34%). This research also found out that the most common
therapy given to patients was therapy by hearing aids (48,78%).
