Profil Pemeriksaan Mayat Anak Di Provinsi Riau Periode 2015 - 2019
Post mortem investigations, which consisted of external and internal
examination (autopsy), is one of the forensic methods to give an overview and
determining one's cause of death. Performing this examination is very important,
especially in death cases where a criminal act is suspected. This study aims to
understand the profile of child post mortem examination in Riau Province period
2015 to 2019. This study was performed using a retrospective analysis method,
and the data were acquired from the Visum et Repertum archives of Riau Police
Medical and Health Sector. From the total of 393 cases examined, there are 49
child victims, which separated into 12 (24.5%) external examinations and 37
(75.5%) autopsies. Most of the victims were males (61.2%), and the age group
examined was dominated within the range between 12-18 years old (59.0%).
Within each case, the most common type of wound was bruises (acquired from
83.3% external examinations and 56.7% autopsies). The locations of most injuries
was in the head area (acquired from 66.6% external examinations and 83.7%
autopsies). The type of violence that dominates is blunt violence (acquired from
75.0% external examinations and 78.3% autopsies), and the cause of death is also
mostly due to blunt violence (42.9%). The highest number of cases was a
combination of homicides and infanticides (53%) and followed by accidents
(35.9%). The manner of death among victims is almost entirely unnatural
(98.0%), and the police who submitted the most inquiries came from Pekanbaru
city (36.7%).
