Efek Berbagai Kompos Sisa Proses Produksi Tanaman Perkebunan Terhadap Kadar Hara Daun, Pertumbuhan dan Produksi Tanaman Jagung Manis (Zea mays L.) pada Lahan Mineral Bergambut
Sweet corn (Zea mays L.) is the second main food producer after rice. The increase in production is estimated to occur due to an increase in harvested area of 160.48 thousand hectares and an increase in productivity of 2.16 quintals/hectare. Indonesia has an extensive area of Inseptisol covering 70.52 million hectares. Inseptisol exhibits relatively low soil fertility and poor soil physical properties, necessitating improvement for cultivation purposes. Alternatives to enhance Inseptisol properties include the application of compost derived from agricultural residues, such as the by-products of oil palm plantations, including oil palm empty fruit bunches (EFB), oil palm fronds, and solid waste, aided by the decomposer EM4 and cellulolytic bacteria. This research aims to identify the type of compost from the by-products of plantation crops and the best decomposer type in terms of nutrient uptake for the growth and production of sweet corn plants (Zea mays L.) in peat mineral land.
This research was carried out in peatlands located on JL. Hang Nadim, KM 1, Gang Nenas, Perawang Village, Tualang District, Siak Regency. This research was carried out experimentally using a non-factorial completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of seven treatments and four replications, resulting in 28 experimental plots, namely without compost, EFB + EM4, EFB + Cellulolytic, frond + EM4, frond + Cellulolytic, Solid + EM4 and Solid + Cellulolytic. The data obtained were analyzed using ANOVA and then further tested with DNMRT at the 5% level.
The research results showed that C-organic, N-total, P, K and Mg from EM4 solid compost gave better results than other composts. However, the pH value of TKKS EM4 compost is higher than other composts. Compost from EFB EM4, Solid EM4, Solid Cellulolytic is black, compost from EFB Cellulolytic, EM4 fronds, Cellulolytic fronds are blackish brown. Providing solid EM4 and Cellulolytic can increase the parameters of plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter and weight of husk cobs when compared to other composts. Providing EM4 solid compost can increase the growth and production of sweet corn plants.
