Analisis Sistem Keamanan Jaringan Menggunakan Intrusion Detection System (Ids) Berbasis Snort
Network Security Systems are a critical aspect in maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of data, especially in government agencies or private companies. In this case, agencies or companies that depend on the internet to carry out their daily work are not immune from being vulnerable to Denial of Service (DOS) attacks. To prevent attacks, an agency or company needs to implement a security system on its network. Intrusion Detection System (IDS) is a security system that is suitable to be implemented on the server. IDS is considered an effective system for detecting suspicious activity that can threaten network security, assisted by the Snort tool which can provide efficient detection results. This research aims to analyze Snort's performance in detecting attacks by simulation, as well as providing recommendations for use. IDS has 3 steps, namely configuring rules to detect an attack, next monitoring the server for changes to CPU and memory usage, and finally testing attacks to prove whether the IDS system has detected a simulated attack. The results of the research show that Snort detects simulated attacks with an average increase in CPU of 67.7% and memory of 396.18 MiB, and IDS is a recommendation for improving network security in a company or agency.
