An Analysis Of Code Switching In A Movie Entitled Java Heat

This study aimed to Identify types and the reasons of using Code Switching in “Java Heat” Movie. This research used descriptive qualitative design. The data source of this research was the script of Java Heat Movie. The finding shows that the types of Code Switching used in this movie were Tag Switching (1 data), Intersentential Switching (2 data), and Intrasentential Switching (14 data).Meanwhile, the reasons of Code Switching in “Java Heat” Movie were Talking about a particular topic (2 data), Being emphatic about something (8 data), Interjections (1 data), Repetition used for clarification (2 data), and Intentions of clarifying the speech content for interlocutor (1 data). So the predominant type of Code Switching used in this movie is Intrasentential Switching and the most frequent reason of using Code Switching in this movie is being emphatic about something or showing respect.
