Analisis Kinerja Dispersion Compensating Fiber (DCF) Dalam Mengatasi Dispersion Power Fading Pada Sistem Radio Over Fiber (Rof)
ABSTRACT
Radio over Fiber (RoF) is a telecommunications technology that integrates wireless
networks and optical fibers to enhance network capacity and efficiency. However,
RoF systems are vulnerable to the effects of Dispersion Power Fading (DPF),
which can degrade signal quality. This research aims to analyze the performance
of Dispersion Compensating Fiber (DCF) in mitigating DPF in RoF systems and
compare it with Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG). The study was conducted through
simulations using the OptiSystem software with QAM-modulated RF signals at
frequencies of 30 GHz, 40 GHz, and 60 GHz. Observed parameters include RF
signal power and Q-Factor values over optical link lengths of up to 5 km. The
results indicate that DCF effectively improves signal quality by reducing power
fluctuations and significantly enhancing the Q-Factor. At 60 GHz, the DCF system
demonstrated an average Q-Factor improvement of 65.49% compared to systems
without compensators, and it was more stable than FBG. Furthermore, DCF
proved to be more effective in maintaining power stability over long optical links.
In conclusion, Dispersion Compensating Fiber is a superior solution for mitigating
DPF in Radio over Fiber systems, especially for high-frequency and long-distance
telecommunications applications.
