Pengawetan Kayu Terentang (Campnosperma Auriculatum) Menggunakan Ekstrak Daun Sambiloto (Andrographis Paniculata) Terhadap Serangan Rayap Tanah
ABSTRACT
Terentang wood (Campnosperma auriculatum) is one of the woods used in construction, furniture, or various other wood products. Terentang wood is included in durability class V and strength class III - IV so that it needs to be preserved so that its durability is higher and resistant to attacks by wood destroying organisms such as termites. One type of plant that is toxic to wood destroying organisms is sambiloto leaf extract. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the length of time immersion in sambiloto leaf extract as a preservative for terentang wood against subterranean termite attack. This study used a non-factorial complete randomized design (CRD) method consisting of three treatments with 10 replications each. The treatment given was the length of soaking, namely 1 hour, 2 hours, and 3 hours. The soaking method used was hot soaking. The parameters observed were weight loss of test samples, termite mortality, and degree of wood damage. Data were analyzed using the SPSS application with the analysis of variance (ANOVA) test and if the results were significantly different, it was continued with Duncan's new multiple range test (DNMRT) at the 5% level. The results showed that the length of soaking time in sambiloto leaf extract as a preservative for terentang wood against subterranean termite infestation had no significant effect on the value of weight loss of test samples, termite mortality, and the degree of wood damage.
