ABSTRACT
PT. Perawang Sukses Perkasa Industri, Lipat Kain District, Riau Province is
one of the companies that manages industrial timber plantations that has a nursery
to produce seedlings that will be planted in the field. Activities in the nursery
include various activities that require intensive labor and the use of various tools
and materials that contain potential occupational health and safety (OHS) hazards
and risks. The objectives of this research were to identify OHS hazards in the
nursery, assess OHS risks in the nursery, and determine risk control as a solution to
the prevention and mitigation of OHS hazards and risks in the nursery. The location
and time of this research was in the nursery of PT. Perawang Sukses Perkasa
Industri Lipat Kain District in March 2025. The research was conducted using the
Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control (HIRARC) method. This
research successfully identified 50 hazards from eight work stations which are
mechanical hazards, electrical hazards, chemical hazards, physical hazards,
ergonomic hazards, and biological hazards. The risk assessment of the identified
hazards resulted in 33 hazards having a low risk level and 17 hazards having a
medium risk level. Risk control is carried out by elimination, substitution,
engineering controls, administrative controls, and the use of personal protective
equipment (PPE).
