analisis faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan pelaksanaan handover pasien di rumah sakit awal bros pekanbaru
A poorly conducted patient handover process can lead to negative outcomes such as missing critical information about the patient's condition, delays in treatment and care, longer hospital stays, and decreased patient satisfaction. This study aims to identify the factors associated with the implementation of patient handover.
Method: This research is a descriptive-correlational study using an analytical survey design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 400 respondents were selected using total sampling. The instrument used was a self-developed questionnaire designed to measure variables such as head nurse supervision, peer support, facilities, standard operating procedures, knowledge, communication, and the implementation of patient handover. The questionnaire was tested on 30 respondents. Validity tests showed values ranging from 0.3 to >0.9 with most items falling into the categories of low to very high validity. The reliability test using Cronbach’s Alpha ranged from 0.748 to 0.943, indicating high to very high internal consistency. Therefore, the questionnaire instrument was deemed valid and reliable for the study. Data analysis was conducted using multivariate analysis with logistic regression. Results: The majority of respondents were female (79.8%), held a professional nursing degree (85.5%), and were permanent employees (63%). Statistical analysis showed a significant relationship between head nurse supervision (p=0.001), facilities (p=0.018), standard operating procedures (p=0.002), and communication (p=0.001) with the implementation of patient handover. However, knowledge (p=0.601) and peer support (p=0.110) did not show a significant relationship. Conclusion: The implementation of patient handover is primarily influenced by head nurse supervision, available facilities, standard operating procedures, and communication among nurses. These four factors are key determinants of successful handover according to established standards. The quality of handover depends not only on individual competence but also on system support and organizational management. Therefore, efforts to improve handover quality should focus on strengthening leadership, providing optimal facilities, consistently applying standard procedures, and ensuring effective communication.
