Formulasi Sabun Mandi Cair Virgin Coconut Oil (Vco) Dengan Variasi Ekstrak Kulit Nanas Sebagai Antioksidan
ABSTRACT
Liquid body wash is a personal care product formulated to cleanse the skin. The addition of natural extracts, such as pineapple peel extract, in the formulation of liquid bath soap is expected to enhance its characteristics, making it safe and suitable for use. This study aimed to determine the best treatment for liquid soap with added pineapple peel extract on the antioxidant activity of virgin coconut oil (VCO) liquid soap. The research was conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD) with one factor, consisting of four treatments and four replicates. The treatments involved the addition of pineapple peel extract at different concentrations 0%, 1%, 2%, and 3%. The data obtained were analyzed using ANOVA, followed by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at a 5% significance level. The results showed that the addition of pineapple peel extract at different concentrations significantly affected the free alkali, pH, foam height, viscosity, and antioxidant activity, except for irritation. The best treatment in this study was obtained with the addition of 3% pineapple peel extract, which yielded optimal values for free alkali 0.005%, pH 10.022, foam height 87.500%, viscosity 208.975 cP, no signs of irritation on the skin, and the highest antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of 121.585 ppm.
