Persepsi Masyarakat Terhadap Kerusakan Hutan Mangrove Di Desa Jangkang Kecamatan Bantan Kabupaten Bengkalis
ABSTRACT
Coastal community activities, especially with population growth and development, contribute to the degradation of mangrove ecosystems in Riau Province, particularly in Jangkang Village, Bantan Sub-district. Mangrove degradation in this area is becoming increasingly concerning due to excessive exploitation. This study aims to identify the factors that cause mangrove degradation and to understand community perceptions regarding this condition. The research uses a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods with a survey approach through questionnaires and interviews with local residents. Data analysis uses the Partial Least Squares (PLS) model to examine the relationship between community perceptions and the factors causing degradation. The results show that mangrove damage is caused by natural factors such as coastal abrasion and flooding, as well as human activities such as land conversion into shrimp ponds, firewood logging, and pond development. Community perception is very positive, at 84%, indicating that the community understands and feels that the mangrove forest in Jangkang Village is experiencing degradation.
