Peran Mamak Terhadap Kemenakan Dalam Masyarakat Minangkabau (Studi Di Jorong Koto Tangah Hilir Kanagarian Koto Tangah Kecamatan Tilatang Kamang Kabupaten Agam)

This research was carried out in Jorong Koto Tangah Hilir, Tilatang Kamang District, Agam Regency. This study intends (1) to find out the current role of mamak towards nephews in the Minangkabau community in Jorong Koto Tangah Hilir (2) to find out the factors that cause changes in the role of mamak to nephews in the Minangkabau community in Jorong Koto Tangah Hilir. To answer the purpose of the research, a descriptive quantitative method was used by calculating mean, maximum, and minimum statistical analysis. The population of this study is house mamak located in Jorong Koto Tangah Hilir. Based on the slovin calculation, the number of samples was obtained as many as 70 people with a sample withdrawal technique using proportional sampling. The results of this study show that the role of mamak is currently out of five indicators, namely roles in the field of customs, education, inheritance, marriage, inheritance roles, the dominant role is the role in the field of education and overall including the category of roles. Meanwhile, when viewd from the factors that cause the change in the normative role of mamak towards nephews, namely factors of new inventions, the existence of conflicts, communication, behavior patterns, and culture. The result of these five factors is that the factors of new inventions, communication factors, and dominant cultural factors cause changes in the role of mamak to nephews in the Minangkabau community in Jorong Koto Tangah Hilir.
