Jenis Dan Kelimpahan Kutu Daun (Hemiptera: Aphididae) Pada Pertanaman Jagung Di Kecamatan Marpoyan Damai Kota Pekanbaru
ABSTRACT
Maize (Zea mays L.) is an important commodity as food, animal feed and others.
In Riau Province, maize production is declining due to pest attacks, especially
aphids (Hemiptera: Aphididae), which can reduce yields by up to 78%. Aphids
damage plants by sucking fluids, producing honeydew, and becoming virus
vectors. Observations on the species and abundance of aphids are needed to
support effective control. This study aims to identify the species and abundance of
aphids in maize crops in Marpoyan Damai District Pekanbaru City. The study was
conducted at maize crops in Marpoyan Damai and the Plant Pest Laboratory,
Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, from February to March 2025. The
method used was the survey method. The research location was determined using
purposive sampling, and the sample plants were determined using systematic
sampling. Collection of aphids was carried out by the relative method using a
portable vacuum cleaner and a yellow plastic pan trap. Observations included
agroecosystems, aphid abundance and species, percentage and intensity of aphid
infestation, temperature and humidity. The result showed that aphids found on
maize crops in Marpoyan Damai were Rhopalosiphum maidis Fitch, with the
highest population in Sidomulyo Timur at 19,3 individuals per plant, in Maharatu
at 17,9 and in Perhentian Marpoyan at 47,6. The highest intensity of R. maidis
infestation was in Perhentian Marpoyan at 23% and classified as mild. The
highest percentage of attack was in Perhentian Marpoyan at 89,2%.
