Hubungan Patron Klien Antara Petani Kopi Dengan Tauke Di Desa Lumban Purba Kecamatan Doloksanggul Kabupaten Humbang Hasundutan Provinsi Sumatera Utara
Coffee is one of the main agricultural commodities which has an important role in the economies of several countries. Especially in tropical regions. In the coffee supply area, the relationship between coffee farmers as producers and tauke as parties who buy the harvest has quite a big role. The relationship between coffee farmers and tauke creates a social relationship, namely a patron-client relationship where the community buys and sells transactions or farmers sell their crops to the tauke. A patron-client relationship is a relationship that is created because of a reciprocal relationship that is mutually beneficial and a relationship of giving and receiving to each other. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between coffee farmers and tauke in Lumban Purba Village, Doloksanggul District and to determine the impact of the relationship on community activities. The approach in this research uses social exchange theory from George C. Homans and patron-client theory from Scott. The subjects selected in this study were eight people and one triangulator using purposive sampling techniques. This type of research is field research and uses a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this research show that the relationship between coffee farmers and tauke is a patron-client relationship that requires each other and is beneficial in terms of the economy, and the impact of community activities on the economy is an increase in income in people's lives.
