Analisis Kepemimpinan Kepala Sekolah Dalam Mengembangkan Budaya Sekolah di SLB Fajar Amanah Kecamatan Tualang Kabupaten Siak

This research aimed to find out head teachers’ leadership in developing school culture at SLB Fajar Amanah in Tualang Sub-District, Siak Regency. Qualitative approach was used in this study with descriptive analysis. The study focused on (1) the type of head teachers’ leadership at SLB Fajar Amanah, (2) head teachers’ understanding of school culture, and (3) the development of school culture at SLB Fajar Amanah. The data was gathered through interview, observation and documentation with triangulation method. The data was analyzed through data gathering, data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing. The research participants were head teacher as the key informant, school committee, deputy head teachers, teachers and administration staff. The research findings showed that democratic type of leadership was dominant being practised at SLB Fajar Amanah (93 %) compared to free type (53 %) and autocratic type (33 %). The findings also indicated that the understanding of school culture by the head teacher was good. It was also proved that the school culture was developed by socializing the school culture to the school members either in a formal or informal manner, maintaining the school culture and developing it by way of applying democratic leadership. Therefore, it is recommended that SLB Fajar Amanah need to enrich the knowledge of leadership from now on as changes are required to solve problems in developing school culture and the school progress at this school in the future.
