Kriteria Pemilihan Jenis Kayu Bahan Baku Alat Musik Taganing Berdasarkan Persepsi Masyarakat Di Kecamatan Simanindo Kabupaten Samosir Provinsi Sumatera Utara

Taganing is traditional music instrument of Batak Toba which is made of wood. Making music instrument Taganing is having certainly criteria for choosing the type of wood that used as a material based. This research aimed to identify types and criteria of wood used by society as Taganing material based, and identify making of music instrument taganing.This research was done with interview to the respondents, referring to the interview guide. Results of research indicated that the favorite woods for taganing instrument material in Simanindo District Samosir Regency North Sumatra Province is Artocarpus heterophyllus, Toona sureni and Arenga pinnata Merr. Criteria of woods were used for making music instrument taganing which is not has wood knob, minimum 5 m high of branch unobstructed, 35–45 cm diameter and 90-100% wood straightness level.
