Jenis Dan Kelimpahan Perifiton Pada Substrat Keramik Di Sungai Tapung Kiri Sekitar Desa Bencah Kelubi Kecamatan Tapung Kabupaten Kampar Provinsi Riau
Periphyton is a sessile microscopic organism that attaches on immersed substrate. Research aims to understand the type and abundance of periphyton attached on ceramic substrate has been carried out in April-May 2017. There were 3 stations namely station 1 (no anthropogenic activity), station 2 (settlements area) and station 3 (rubber factory area). Ceramic plates (10x3 cm) were immersed in the water (20 plates in St1; 15 plates in St2 and 10 plates in St3). By the 7th day, the plates started to be removed (5 from St1, 4 from St3 and 3 from St3). The rest of the plates were taken in 14th, 21st and 28th day. Periphyton samples were scrapped from the plate’s surface, fixed with Lugol 1% and then were identified. Results shown that there were 39 types of periphyton present and they are belonged to 5 classes namely Bacillariophyceae (36 species), Cyanophyceae (6 species), Chlorophyceae (5 spesies) and Dinophyceae (2 species). The highest abundance of periphyton was found in the Station 3 (75,268 cells/cm2), followed by Station 2 (24,896 cells/cm2) and the lowest was in the Station 1 (13,458 cells/cm2). Based on data obtained, it can be concluded that water in the Tapung River is categorized as oligotrophic.
