Karakterisasi Dan Penentuantingkat Kematangan Minyak Bumi Blok Bangko-Rokan Hilir, Riau Berdasarkan Parameter Geokimia Indeks Metilphenantren (MPI)
SUMMARY
The crisis of petroleum energy occurs mainly due to the no production of old wells and unproductive of newly found wells, partly because the wells have not reached maturity yet. The purpose of this rhe esearch was to determine the maturity of oil samples of Bangko Block based on petroleum geochemical parameters of metilphenantren index (MPI). The crude oil samples from Bangko wells were fractionated by column chromatography resulting in saturate-hydrocarbon fraction,which is then analyzed by gas chromatography (GC), whereas the aromatic fraction was analyzed using GC-MS. The results indicate that Bangko Block crude oil have the pristane to phitane (pr/ph) ratio of 2.41, indicating the well of Bangko Block production originated from the lacustrine deposition environment under oxidation conditions. The values of methylpenantren parameter for MPI, MPI 2 and MPI 3 were 0.812, 0.917 and 0.789, respectively and the value of VRE was 0.887%, which reflects that Bangko Block oil has reached maturity.
