Pemberdayaan Anggota MGMP IPA Kota Dumai Dalam Meningkatkan Profesionalisme Guru
The competence of teachers should always be developed, one of which is through Teacher Discussion Group (MGMP). MGMP IPA Dumai City has been carrying out a routine activity, but development activity is still below the level of appropriateness. MGMP IPA Dumai runs less than optimal and effective as well as participation of members is still low
This study aims to analyze and describe (1). the empowerment of the members of MGMP IPA Dumai City in improving the professionalism of Teachers, (2) the level of knowledge of Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) of science teachers of the City of Dumai and (3). Create program strategy of development of MGMP IPA Dumai City to improve Teacher Professionalism. This research was a qualitative descriptive research using a survey method, the population was the member of MGMP IPA Dumai academic year 2018/2019. Sampling used was purposive sampling technique (based on the activeness of the members of MGMP). Data were obtained through questionnaires, interviews, tests, observation and analysis of document MGMP. Furthermore, the data were analyzed descriptively.
The results show that empowerment in the implementation of the Professional capabilities of the teacher in MGMP IPA Dumai City with a very good value (4.34%). The result of field observation shows motivation and creativity of teachers is in good enough criteria, it is supported by the results of the interviews that the teachers are less motivated and creativie because of lack of education and training, the seminar is part of the development program.
The results of the test found out that the average ability of the PCK of 66 teachers is (good enough), this suggests that of PCK. The results of the preparation of the program of MGMP IPA Dumai using the method of Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) with Expect Choise 11 application, the choice of education and training program is higher with percentage of 21.2%, while the second priority is the competition of teacher performance with percentage of 16.7%, the third priority is research with the percentage of 15.8%, the fourth priority is seminar with percentage of 15.7%, the fifth priority is scientific publications with percentage of 15.5% and the last priority publishing journal with percentage of 15.1%. The whole program needs to be done in a comprehensive, mutually complement and strengthen each other between programs.
