Hallyu Center Dengan Penerapan Folding Architecture Di Pekanbaru

ABSTRACT
Media inflows and outflows of popular culture between countries are growing, in
a few years the popular culture and entertainment industry of South Korea has
grown very rapidly and spread to various countries in the world, one of which is
Indonesia. This popularity phenomenon is known as "hallyu" which is a term for
the spread of Korean popular culture in the form of music, drama, films, fashion,
cosmetics, tourist destinations, culinary and so on. This phenomenon also spreads
in the Pekanbaru area, causing the emergence of many Korean culture lovers and
encouraging the formation of communities of Korean fans. Such as dance cover
communities, idol groups and so on. However, there is no special forum to
accommodate the various activities of the community. In addition, this is an
attraction for people to visit the country of origin of Hallyu and feel the
atmosphere there. However, distance and limited resources are obstacles to the
realization of this desire. Therefore, the solution to this problem is to design the
Hallyu Center as a forum to introduce Korean popular culture with various
facilities in it that can accommodate the interests and talents or activities of the
Korean fan community in the Pekanbaru area and as a medium for sharing and
exchanging information by implementing folding architecture. Folding
architecture is a form-finding method that focuses on exploratory and
visualitative forms that can communicate the function of the hallyu center object.
