As a form of utilizing the surrounding environment as a learning resource,
history teachers in Siak District make Balai Kerapatan Tinggi as a medium for learning
local history. The objectives of the study were (1) to find out the pattern of using the
Balai Kerapatan Tinggi building as a medium for learning local history at the senior high
school level in Siak District, (2) to find out the constraints of teachers and student in
using the Balai Kerapatan Tinggi as a medium for learning local history at the senior high
school level in Siak District, (3) knowing the impact of of using the Balai Kerapatan
Tinggi as a medium for learning local history for student learning outcomes. This study
uses a qualitative method. Data were collected through interviews, documentation and
literature. Data analysis uses data reduction, data presentation and data verification. The
pattern of using the High Density Center as a medium for learning local history at the
senior high school level in Siak District is carried out by means of pictures and field trips.
There are obstacles faced by history teachers and students in the utilization of the High
Density Center. A big impact on student learning outcomes can be seen from the increase
in daily test scores.
