Rancangan Pabrik Ammonia Dari Light Naphtha Proses UHDE Dual Pressure Dengan Desain Alat Utama Kolom Absorbsi (T-101)
ABSTRACT
Ammonia is a chemical compound with the molecular formula NH₃, consisting of one nitrogen atom and three hydrogen atoms. The raw materials for ammonia production are hydrogen, derived from light naphtha cracking, and nitrogen, obtained from atmospheric air. With the increasing global demand for ammonia, establishing an ammonia plant presents a promising opportunity, as it can create new job opportunities and contribute to national foreign exchange through ammonia exports. The proposed ammonia plant will be located in Cilacap Regency, Central Java, Indonesia. Cilacap is selected for its strategic access to raw materials and ease of product distribution. The plant is designed with a production capacity of 150.000 tons per year. Ammonia plays a crucial role in various industries, particularly in agriculture as a raw material for fertilizer production. Beyond agriculture, it is also used in household industries, chemical manufacturing, plastics and rubber production, and metal processing.
The ammonia production process will utilize the Uhde Dual Pressure technology, which offers several advantages, including proven modern equipment, higher efficiency, and lower operating costs. Utility provisions such as water and electricity are supplied by in-house treatment and generation systems, with capacities of 74.222,377 kg/h and 7.306,11 kW/hr, respectively. Wastewater treatment involves equalization, neutralization, aeration, and sedimentation processes, while CO₂ gas emissions are managed using a flare system. The plant’s process control system employs sensors and controllers, along with safety equipment such as alarms, pressure safety valves, check valves, gate valves, hand control valves, vents, and anti-surge control valves.
Profitability analysis indicates a fixed capital investment of IDR 1,181,827,726,036 and a working capital investment of IDR 294,372,584,686, with total production costs amounting to IDR 2,418,270,677,623. The annual revenue from product sales is estimated at IDR 2,906,135,244,070. Profitability metrics show a Net Present Value (NPV) of IDR 1,008,946,786, an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 26.40%, a Break-Even Point (BEP) at 44.79% production capacity, and a Payback Period (PBP) of 3.27 years. Based on these results, the ammonia plant utilizing the UHDE Dual Pressure process from naphtha is considered feasible and represents a profitable investment.
