Gambaran Darah Ikan Jambal Siam (Pangasianodon Hypophthalmus) Yang Diberi Pakan Dengan Penambahan Ekstrak Biji Pepaya (Carica Papaya L.)
Pangasianodon hypophthalmus is a freshwater fish commodity whose market demand continues to increase, so farmers apply intensive cultivation systems. However, if not managed properly, it can reduce water quality, cause stress, and increase the risk of disease, such as Motile Aeromonas Septicemia (MAS). This research was conducted from July 2024 to April 2025 at the Laboratory of Fish Parasites and Diseases, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Riau University. This study aims to determine the best dose of papaya seed extract enriched pellets of striped catfish (P. hypophthalmus). The method used a one-factor Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatments and three repetitions. The treatments were namely Kn: negative control, no challenged with Aeromonas hydrophila, Kp: positive control, and challenged with A. hydrophila, P1: (1g/kg), P2: (2g/kg), P3: (3g/kg) and fish challenged with A. hydrophila. The results shown that the best dose of papaya seed extract addition to feed was P3 (3 g/kg) with total erythrocytes 2.27 x 10⁶ cells/mm³, haematocrit value 37.33%, haemoglobin level 11.80 g/dL, total leukocytes 10.37 x 10⁴ cells/mm³, phagocytosis activity 26.00%, and survival rate 86.67%. In conclusion, papaya seed extract was effective in improving the health and enhancing the immunity of striped catfish (P. hypophthalmus).
