Pengaruh Perendaman Ikan Jambal Siam (Pangasianodon Hypophthalmus) Dalam Larutan Ekstrak Kulit Manggis (Garcinia Mangostana) Terhadap Struktur Jaringan Insang Dan Ginjal

Mangosteen peel (Garcinia mangostana) contains antibacterial compounds such as tannins, alkaloids, flavonoids, and saponins that have the potential to treat bacteria-infected fish. This study was conducted from December 2024 to April 2025 at the Fish Parasite and Disease Laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, University of Riau. The objective was to observe the gill and kidney tissue structures of Siamese catfish after infection with Aeromonas hydrophila and immersion in mangosteen peel extract, as well as to determine the optimal extract dosage. The method used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with one factor consisting of five treatments and three replications: negative control, positive control, and three extract doses (0.5, 0.7, and 0.9 g/L). Immersion was performed once on the third day post-infection for 4 hours. Histopathological preparations were made through necropsy, fixation, dehydration, de-alcoholization, infiltration, embedding, sectioning, staining, and mounting. Observed parameters included clinical symptoms, gill and kidney tissue structures, and water quality, which were analyzed descriptively. Meanwhile, data on gill lamella distance and width were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA). Results showed gill tissue damage such as hyperplasia, hypertrophy, epithelial lifting, congestion, andnecrosis; kidney damage included tubular degeneration, congestion, hemorrhage, and necrosis. Water quality remained normal (temperature 27.2–28.3°C, pH 6.5–7.5, DO 5.3–5.8 ppm). The best extract dose was 0.7 g/L, with gill damage limited to congestion and hypertrophy and kidney damageto tubular degeneration. In conclusion, mangosteen peel extract at 0.7 g/L has the potential to repair tissue damage caused by A. hydrophila infection.
