Gambaran Penilaian Sanitasi Rumah Dan Personal Hygiene Dengan Kejadian Stunting Pada Anak Balita Di Desa Kampung Pinang Kecamatan Perhentian Raja
Stunting is a chronic health problem caused by long-term malnutrition and recurrent infections, affecting child growth, especially during the first 1,000 days of life. This study aimed to describe household sanitation and hygiene conditions toward the incidence of stunting in children under five in Kampung Pinang Village, Perhentian Raja Sub-district, Kampar Regency. This was a descriptive quantitative study using a cross-sectional design. A total of 63 stunted children under five were selected using total sampling. Data were collected through observation and interviews using a questionnaire covering sanitation components (clean water, toilets, waste water disposal, and trash management) and hygiene behaviors (handwashing before meals, after defecation/urination, when hands are dirty, and using soap properly). The results showed that most households did not meet proper sanitation and hygiene standards: only 50.8% had access to clean water, 65.1% had healthy toilets, 50.8% had appropriate SPAL, and only 12.7% had proper trash bins. In terms of hygiene, only 31.7% of children washed hands with soap and running water for 15–20 seconds. These findings indicate that poor sanitation and hygiene conditions at home contribute significantly to stunting in children.
