a study on the students’ ability in writing analytical exposition text

This study aims to determine the writing ability of the tenth-grade
students at SMK Telkom Pekanbaru. The study employs a descriptive quantitative
research design with a writing test as the research instrument. The research sample
consists of 30 students selected through cluster random sampling techniques.The
findings indicate that the student's ability to write analytical exposition texts is in
the 'good' category, with an average score of 71.5. The aspect of difficulty faced by
students is in language use, which has an average score of 17.04, and mechanics,
which has an average score of 3.72, both of which are considered to be at a fair to
poor level. The result showed that the tenth-grade students of SMK Telkom
Pekanbaru have difficulties in writing analaytical exposition text.
