The potential for badminton talent identification in Indonesia is extraordinary,
making early identification essential. The aim of this study is to examine early-age
talent identification in the sport of badminton. This research uses a quantitative
descriptive method. The population consisted of 40 athletes, selected using a total
sampling technique. The instrument used was the Sport Search battery, which
includes tests for height, sitting height, body weight, arm span, tennis ball throwand-
catch, basketball throw, vertical jump, agility run, 40-meter sprint, and
multistage run. Data analysis was performed using percentage calculations. The
results of measuring badminton talent potential among students aged 11–13 years
showed that the majority of participants fell into the "Not Potential" and "Less
Potential" categories. Out of 40 participants, only 5 students were classified as
"Moderately Potential", while the rest were in the lower categories. In the t-test
for Equality of Means, the result showed t = 0.283 with degrees of freedom (df) =
38, and a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.779. Since the significance value is
greater than 0.05 (p = 0.779 > 0.05), it can be concluded that there is no
statistically significant difference in the average scores between students from
private and public schools.
