The study aimed to examine the influence of perceptions of education costs and
future orientation on students' interest in continuing their education to college
level. The subjects of the study were students in grades XI and XII at SMA PGRI
Pekanbaru who were at an important stage in planning their academic future. The
study utilized a quantitative approach with a survey method. Data collection was
carried out using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear
regression to obtain the influence of each variable partially and simultaneously.
The results of the study showed that most students had a high interest in continuing
their education. Perceptions of education costs had an influence on students'
interest, indicating that concerns about costs were not entirely a barrier when
students had sufficient information about financial support. Future orientation also
had a significant influence on interest, meaning that clear personal planning and
goals could motivate students to continue their studies. Simultaneously, both
variables were proven to have an influence on students' interest in continuing their
education to college level. These results prove the importance of disseminating
information about educational assistance and scholarships, as well as the need for
career guidance so that students can plan their future in a more focused manner.
