Analisis Perbandingan Design Rod Terhadap Parameter Proses Sizing Di Dalam Proses Pembuatan Kertas
ABSTRACT
The sizing process is an important stage in paper production that aims to improve the surface quality properties of paper, including water absorption, strength, and water resistance. The main chemicals used in the sizing process are native starch and the applicator rod as a means of applying starch to the sheet. These two things greatly affect the quality of the sheet during production. The rod design used in this process can affect the distribution of sizing materials, process efficiency, and the quality of the paper produced. This study was conducted using the data analysis method, using two different rod designs and brands and tested under the same parameters. The parameters analyzed include solid supply, size pick up, rod loading and rod lifetime. The results of this study show that the design rod with brand A is more efficient in distributing sizing material and can significantly improve paper quality. Design rod with brand A is able to provide better results in the sizing process and in the absorption of sizing material on the paper surface. The results of this study are expected to provide input to determine the comparison between two different design rods on sizing process parameters. This research serves as a basis for decision-making regarding the best rod design, which ultimately achieves good paper quality and final results, and it is hoped that this research can serve as a reference for improving paper quality.
