penerapan model problem based learning untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar matematika peserta didik kelas ix.3 smp babussalam pekanbaru
This study was motivated by the low level of Learning Objective Achievement Criteria (KKTP) among ninth-grade students at SMP Babussalam Pekanbaru. Based on the summative test scores obtained from the mathematics teacher on the topic of similarity with essay-type questions in the second semester of the 2024/2025 academic year, only 6 out of 24 students achieved the LAC criteria, representing a percentage of 25%.
There are several factors contributing to the low learning outcomes of students in class IX.3 at SMP Babussalam Pekanbaru, namely the dominance of the lecture method in delivering material, teachers' failure to relate the material to real-world problems, and students' lack of active participation in the learning process. Based on the problems outlined above, teachers must be wise in determining a learning model that can bring real-world problems into mathematics learning. The closer the context of the problems used, the better students will understand the lessons taught. One learning model that has the characteristic of bringing real-world problems into learning is the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model (Noresti & Silalahi, 2023).
This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of students in class IX.3 at SMP Babussalam Pekanbaru and to improve the learning process in the material on two-variable linear equation systems through the PBL model at SMP Babussalam Pekanbaru. The benefits of this study are to improve students' mathematics learning outcomes in solving problems in everyday life. This research can serve as a suggestion and input for the school and mathematics teachers to improve the quality of teacher performance and school quality, and for researchers to use as a reference in conducting further research with a broader scope.
This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR). The research design is based on Arikunto's research design, where each cycle consists of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. This research was conducted in two cycles. The subjects of this research were 24 students in class IX.3 of SMP Babussalam Pekanbaru with heterogeneous ability levels. The research instruments

used were learning tools consisting of teaching modules and student worksheets. The data collected in this research were learning process data and mathematics learning outcome data of students.
Based on the analysis of the research data, it was found that there was an improvement in the learning process and an increase in mathematics learning outcomes from before the intervention to after the intervention. This was evident from the increasing alignment of teacher and student activities with the planning in each session. The percentage of students achieving the minimum competency standard (KKTP) at the baseline score of 25% increased to 45.83% in Cycle I and further increased to 91.66% in Cycle II.
Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the application of the PBL model can improve the learning process and increase the learning outcomes of students in class IX.3 at SMP Babussalam Pekanbaru. The researcher recommends that teachers or researchers who wish to apply the PBL model should guide students well during learning so that students can solve contextual problems in the application of the PBL model.
