Perilaku Komunikasi Pada Petani Hortikultura Di Pertanian Perkotaan (Studi Kasus : Wilayah Kerja Bpp Rumbai Pada Petani Hortikultura)

ABSTRACT
Urban agriculture has become a strategic solution to meet local food
needs amid land limitations in Pekanbaru City, Riau. This study aims to examine
the communication behavior of horticultural farmers in the working area of BPP
Rumbai to support the development of sustainable urban agriculture. The
research was conducted from March 2024 to February 2025 using a survey
method with purposive sampling involving 33 respondents. Data analysis was
performed descriptively using a Likert scale. The results showed that the majority
of farmers in the BPP Rumbai working area are of productive age (33.33%) with
a relatively high level of education (48.49%) and have more than 15 years of
farming experience. Farmers in this area generally belong to small households
with medium-sized agricultural land. The communication process among farmers
in this area was rated as good, with an average score of 3.62, indicating
adaptation to information and innovation for the development of farming
businesses. The communication behavior of farmers was classified as fairly good,
with an average score of 3.20, reflecting adequate attitudes, knowledge, and skills
in developing their agricultural enterprises.
