ABSTRACT
Roundness measuring instrument is a machine that is used to make measurements
that are shown to check the roundness of an object or to find out whether an object is
really round or not when viewed carefully using a tool. This final project aims to
assist the process of measuring roundness in the Mechanical Engineering laboratory,
Riau University. The Vertical Roundness Tester has components to support its
operating system, such as shafts, brackets, bearings, couplings, frames, x and y axis
arms. The measuring instrument frame is made of v slot aluminum profile extrusion
rail 20x20mm, and v slot aluminum profile extrusion c beam 40x80mm. The
manufacturing production processes carried out include turning, drill, and the
connection method using angel corner bracket and t sliding nut. The vertical
roundness tester is tested with a mandrel, or shaft that has been calibrated and
certified.
