Studi Kelayakan Pemasangan Direct Heater Di Line Firing Liquor Pada Recovery Boiler A
ABSTRACT
Recovery boiler is a piece of equipment used in the pulp and paper industry that has two functions: recovering chemicals contained in black liquor for reuse in the cooking process and generating energy. Several components of a recovery boiler are very important for improving energy efficiency, one of which is a direct heater. The direct heater in a recovery boiler is used to heat black liquor before it enters the furnace. This study aims to conduct a feasibility study on the installation of a direct heater in the firing liquor line. The study uses secondary data collection methods, including data on the flow rates of centrifugal pumps A and B, black liquor flow, black liquor temperature, and power savings calculations for the pumps to determine power usage savings. Based on the research results, installing a direct heater increases pump efficiency from 38.69% to 50% and saves power consumption by 513 kWh, equivalent to Rp. 564,300 per day. The payback period is achieved after 2 years. Installing a direct heater in the firing liquor line of the recovery boiler is deemed feasible and beneficial.
