Evaluasi Dimensi Saluran Drainase Perumahan Dwi Beringin Indah V Kota Pekanbaru Menggunakan Metode Empiris
ABSTRACT
Flooding and waterlogging are still common problems in the Dwi Beringin Indah V Housing Complex in Pekanbaru City, caused by inappropriate drainage channel dimensions and a poor rainwater management system. This study aims to evaluate the existing condition of the drainage channels and determine their adequacy in accommodating surface runoff. Empirical methods were used, utilizing maximum daily rainfall data for the past 10 years (2015–2024) from the Sumatra III River Basin Office. The analysis included determining the frequency distribution of rainfall, calculating rainfall intensity using the Mononobe method, calculating the design discharge using the rational method, and evaluating the capacity of the existing channels. The evaluation results indicate that some channel segments can accommodate the design discharge with a 10-year return period. However, high sedimentation prevents the channels from operating smoothly, necessitating repairs or cleaning to prevent flooding. This study provides a technical basis for planning and improving drainage systems in residential areas.
