Analisis Kandungan Mikroplastik Di Udara Dari Aktivitas Transportasi Di Kecamatan Binawidya
ABSTRACT
The rise in traffic density in urban regions presents a threat of microplastic
emission into the atmosphere. Road dust now contains microplastics, which are
plastic particles that range in size from 0.001 to 5 mm. Due to their little weight
and ease of airborne suspension, these particles have the potential to lower air
quality and endanger human health. This study is to examine the quantity, sorts,
and types of microplastic polymers in the air in Binawidya District, Pekanbaru
City. The sampling stations were established using purposive sampling across
three road segments of varying classifications: Jalan HR. Soebrantas (arterial),
Jalan Garuda Sakti (collector), and Jalan Merak Sakti (local), along with a
control point at Gang Puan. The traffic volume at each location was assessed
utilizing the traffic counting method. The research findings indicate that the
greatest average concentration of microplastics was observed in the site with the
highest traffic flow. The average concentration of microplastics recorded on HR.
Soebrantas Street was 0.107 particles/ml (332,060 smp/week), on Garuda Sakti
Street was 0.076 particles/ml (179,480 smp/week), on Merak Sakti Street was
0.046 particles/ml (13,790 smp/week), and at the control site devoid of
transportation activity was 0.015 particles/ml. The Pearson Product Moment
correlation analysis revealed a significant association between traffic volume and
microplastic abundance at each collection site (significance value 0.002 < 0.05).
The discovered microplastics include fibers, fragment, and films, while the
polymer types identified based on the Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC)
test are Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), Polycarbonate (PC), and Polyamide (PA).
