Prarancangan Pabrik Caprolactam Dari Sikloheksana Proses Beckmann Dengan Desain Alat Utama Menara Distilasi (Md-101)
ABSTRACT
In Indonesia, caprolactam is not yet produced domestically, thus the demand must still be met through imports from other countries. Over the past five years, the volume of caprolactam imports has remained relatively high, ranging between 30,000 and 35,000 tons annually. Caprolactam is produced via the Toyo Rayon Photonitrosation process. This process aims to convert cyclohexane into cyclohexanone oxime through an oximation reaction between cyclohexane and nitrosyl chloride. The resulting oxime is then reacted with trifluoroacetic acid in a Beckmann rearrangement inside a reactor to yield caprolactam. The data used in this feasibility analysis were obtained from literature review. The caprolactam plant is planned to be constructed in Cilegon, Banten, with a production capacity of 30,000 tons per year. Economic feasibility analysis indicates that the plant is viable, with a Net Present Value (NPV) of IDR 22,822,364,819; a Return on Investment (ROI) of 69.04%; a Payback Period (PBP) of 1.16 years; a Break Even Point (BEP) of 61.4%; and an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 22.76%, which is significantly higher than BRI’s Required Rate of Return (RRR) of 2.25%. Therefore, the caprolactam plant project is considered feasible to proceed to the construction phase.
