gaya komunikasi perempuan pengurus organisasi himpunan mahasiswa fkip universitas riau
The research problem in this study is how the communication style of women influences the student organization (Himpunan Mahasiswa) of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at the University of Riau in the Department of Education Sciences (Community Education, Guidance and Counseling, Early Childhood Education, and Primary School Teacher Education).
This study is descriptive in nature with a quantitative approach. The population in this study consists of female student organization leaders from the study programs of Community Education, Primary School Teacher Education, Guidance and Counseling, and Early Childhood Education at the University of Riau, specifically from the 2022 and 2023 academic years, totaling 244 female organization members. The sampling technique used is Stratified Random Sampling, and based on the Slovin formula, the sample size is 71 students. A pilot test was conducted on 30 students using 45 statements. After the trial, 39 of the statements were found valid, with a correlation coefficient (r-count) of 0.463, indicating a fairly high level of validity.
Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that the communication style of female leaders in the student organization at the FKIP Education Sciences Department (Community Education, Guidance and Counseling, Early Childhood Education, and Primary School Teacher Education) varies based on demographic factors. Among cohorts, the 2023
cohort demonstrated the highest communication style score, with a mean of 4.38. In terms of study programs, Community Education students showed the highest communication style score, also with a mean of 4.38.
The study focused on five communication style indicators: controlling style, equalitarian (two-way) style, structuring style, dynamic style, and relinquishing style. Among these five indicators, the controlling style emerged as the most dominant and effective, with the highest mean score of 4.55. This style reflects the ability to give direction, control situations, and demonstrate strong leadership. On the other hand, the relinquishing style recorded the lowest mean score of 4.11, indicating that openness to feedback, empowerment, and trust in members are not yet the primary tendencies in the communication style of women within the organization.
