faktor penentu kesiapan menjadi guru pada mahasiswa pendidikan ekonomi universitas islam negeri sultan syarif kasim riau
This study aims to analyse the factors that can influence readiness to become a teacher among economics education students at Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau State Islamic University. The background of this research is based on the importance of readiness to become a teacher among economics education students, as the career prospects for economics education graduates are to work as teachers or educational staff. Low readiness to become a teacher is one of the reasons why economics education graduates do not become teachers. Therefore, it is important to identify the factors influencing teacher readiness among students.
Parental attention and support are crucial for students to be more motivated in their studies and more focused in choosing their career goals. Field experience practice (PPL) activities are highly important for students, as through PPL, students can develop lesson plans, teach according to schedules, create or select appropriate teaching materials, and evaluate learning outcomes. Positive perceptions that students have about the teaching profession make them enjoy the profession and enthusiastic about achieving their career goals as teachers. Additionally, students with high self-efficacy can perform their duties well because they have a strong curiosity in the learning process and are not easily discouraged. These four factors significantly contribute to students' readiness to become teachers.
The study used a quantitative method involving 93 students through simple random sampling. Data was collected via a questionnaire and analysed using SEM PLS. The research findings identified the factors influencing students' readiness to become teachers as family environment, field experience practice (PPL), perception of the teaching profession, and self-efficacy. Therefore, students should receive adequate and focused attention from their parents, engage in field experience practice (PPL) effectively, have a positive perception of the teaching profession, and possess high self-efficacy. These factors can elicit numerous positive emotional responses, including the emergence of readiness to become a teacher among students.
