Karakteristik Mortar Self-Healing Menggunakan Serat Daun Nanas Dan Silica Fume Dengan Perendaman Air

ABSTRACT
Mortar is an important construction material consisting of a mixture of fine
aggregate, Portland cement, and water. Mortar functions as a coating for walls,
brick adhesive, and others. However, the use of cement in mortar often causes
cracks in these elements. Cracks occur due to variations in temperature changes,
loading, and uneven shrinkage. This study uses a solution to overcome cracking by
relying on the self-healing ability of mortar using pineapple leaf fibers and silica
fume as partial cement substitutes. This study examined the characteristics of selfhealing
mortar using pineapple leaf fibers and silica fume with water immersion.
The mixtures consisted of 0PALF10SF, 0.3PALF10SF, and 0.6PALF10SF relative to
the weight of the control mortar cement. The tests conducted included flow value,
setting time,compressive strength, Strength Activity Index (SAI), Ultrasonic Pulse
Velocity (UPV), porosity, weight change, and visual observation. Mortar that had
been immersed for 28 days was tested on day 0 and mortar was given cracks 0.1–
0.3 mm wide. Then, the mortar was cured in water and tested at 7, 28, and 56 days.
The test results showed that the flow and setting time values decreased compared
to the control mortar. The 0.3PALF10SF mixture had the highest compressive
strength, Strength Activity Index (SAI), Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity (UPV), and weight
change of 31.13 MPa, 106.62%, 4269 m/s, 3.033%, and the lowest porosity value
of 17.46%. Meanwhile, the highest visual observation results (100%) were obtained
in the 0.6PALF10SF mixture, self-healing efficiency is not only determined by visual
appearance. In conclusion, although it has low surface coverage, mortar with 0.3%
pineapple leaf fiber and 10% silica fume has better self-healing characteristics
compared to other mixtures.
