Karakteristik Mortar Self-Healing Menggunakan Abu Cangkang Telur Dan Silica Fume Dalam Larutan Asam Sulfat

ABSTRACT
Cracks in mortar accelerate damage because they facilitate the entry of aggressive
substances such as sulfuric acid, which can damage the cement paste. Damage to
the cement paste reduces the strength of the mortar. Self-healing mortar is one
solution because it can repair cracks independently. Self-healing can be supported
by environmentally friendly additives, such as eggshell ash and silica fume.
Eggshell ash contains calcium oxide (CaO), while silica fume contains silica (SiO2)
to form calcium silicate hydrate (C-S-H) to help heal cracks. This study examines
the characteristics of self-healing mortar using eggshell ash and silica fume soaked
in sulfuric acid solution. The mortar mixtures consisted of PCC-ES5SF10, PCCES10SF10,
and PCC-ES15SF10 relative to the weight of the control mortar cement.
The tests included flow value, setting time, compressive strength, Strength Activity
Index (SAI), Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity (UPV), porosity, weight change, and visual
observation. The test specimens were cured for 28 days in water, after which testing
was carried out before immersion and the mortar was cracked with a crack width
of 0,1-0,3 mm. The test specimens were immersed in a sulfuric acid solution with a
pH of 4 and tested for 7, 28, and 56 days. The test results showed that increasing
eggshell ash content reduced the flow value and accelerated the setting time
compared to the control mortar. The PCC-ES5SF10 mixture provided the highest
compressive strength, Strength Activity Index (SAI), and Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity
(UPV) of 32,07 MPa, 121,26%, and 4347 m/s, respectively, while the lowest
porosity and weight loss were 18,18% and 0,116%. The highest crack closure was
also obtained in the PCC-ES5SF10 mixture at 54,82% after 56 days of immersion
in sulfuric acid solution. The conclusion is that mortar using eggshell ash and silica
fume has better self-healing characteristics than the control mortar.
