Optimasi Parameter Pembuatan Sampel Kampas Rem Non-Asbestos Organic (Nao) Terhadap Nilai Kekerasan Dan Porositas Dengan Menggunakan Metode Taguchi
ABSTRACT
The development of Non-Asbestos Organic (NAO) brake pads recently is
increasity due to environmental trialdly issue. To produce a proficient brake pad
involves many process parameters, therefore it requires a large quantities of
samples and consumes times. This research aims to obtain optimal process
parameters on hardness and porosity using taguchi. Design of experiment were
made using compaction pressure, postcuring temperature, and postcuring time of
controlled parameters. Each of them consists of 3 levels. Hardness and porosity
values were selected as quality targets. The Taguchi Orthogonal Array (L9) was
selected for experimental design. The experimental results were analyszed using
Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The Signal-to-Noise (S/N ratio) of hardness and
porosity responce were larger is better and smaller is better respectively, design
of experiment and result prediction were made by minitab19. The result shows
that the compaction pressure had the most significant impact on hardness and
porosity. The optimal value of hardness and porosity were obtained of compacting
pressure of 5 tons, postcuring temperature 165ºC and postcuring time of 10
hours, this research also prove those optimal process parameters with 95%
Confidence Interval (CI). These parameters can be used as a reference for
industry and further research for the manufacture of organic Non-Asbestos brake
linings.
