Penerapan Prinsip Kesehatan Dan Kenyamanan Dalam Ruang Pada Perancangan Perpustakaan Anak Di Kota Pekanbaru
ABSTRACT
Children's literacy refers to the ability to read, write, and understand
information critically and creatively, which is a big problem in Indonesia with a
low level of interest in reading. UNESCO data shows that the reading interest of
the Indonesian people is only 0.001% and places Indonesia in 60th place out of 70
countries. In the city of Pekanbaru, the Reading Interest Index (TGM) in 2021 only
reached 59.86, not being able to make this city in the top ten regions with the highest
TGM index in Indonesia. In addition to the low literacy level, the tropical climate
conditions of Pekanbaru City, with high temperatures and an average humidity of
85%, related research confirms that comfort when reading affects a person's
interest in reading, this happens because climate conditions and hot room
temperatures are causing discomfort and health that is threatened. Therefore, a
children's library is needed that is designed interactively, and pays attention to local
climate factors to maintain the health and comfort of users. Children's libraries are
designed with the implementation of Health and Comfort in a space that can provide
good air circulation and maintain the rate of incoming air, reduce energy use, and
create a comfortable environment for children. The design stage began with the
identification of literacy problems and climate challenges in Pekanbaru, followed
by data collection through case studies, references, analyses and field observations.
Observations were made directly at the design site on Jalan Arifin Ahmad,
Marpoyan Damai District, Pekanbaru City, to understand the appropriate air and
circulation needs. This process includes the analysis of wind and air speed data to
ensure the concept of a library that is comfortable, healthy, and in accordance with
the characteristics of children and the climate of Pekanbaru. The design concept of
this building is the brain which is the driving force for the human body in physical
and psychological terms. The ultimate goal of this design is to create a children's
library that not only supports the improvement of literacy, but also prioritizes health
and comfort through the application of principles.
