Karakteristik Arang Aktif Cangkang Buah Karet Dengan Metode Aktivasi Secara Kimia Menggunakan Naoh
ABSTRACT
This research aims to obtain the best concentration of Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) in relation to the characteristics of activated carbon from rubber seed shells. This research was conducted experimentally using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatment levels in the form of NaOH activator concentrations and 3 replications. The treatment in this study consisted of in NaOH activator concentrations, namely P1 (NaOH 1%), P2 (NaOH 2%), P3 (NaOH 4%), P4 (NaOH 6%), and P5 (NaOH 8%). The observational data will be statistically analyzed using analysis of variance tests in IBM SPSS Statistics version 25. If Fcount ≥ Ftable, it will be followed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at the 5% level. Activated charcoal of rubber fruit shells based on the results of the analysis of yield, moisture content, ash content, evaporative substance, bound carbon content and Iodine absorption has met the SNI 06–3730–1995 standard rules. The best active charcoal based on the analysis results is found in treatment P3 (NaOH concentration 4%) with an active charcoal yield of 70.74%, moisture content of 4.22%, ash content of 4.36%, volatile matter content of 16.38%, bound carbon content of 75.03%, and iodine adsorption capacity of 795.54 mg/g
