Analisis Pengaruh Umur Panen Kayu Terhadap Karakteristik Tensile Strength Dan Bulk Pada Produk Kraft Pulp Dengan Bahan Baku Eucalyptus
ABSTRACT
Eucalyptus is one of the hardwood tree species commonly used in the pulp and paper industry. Pulp itself is wood pulp that is commonly used as raw material in papermaking, which is a thin material produced from the compression of fibres derived from pulp. There are various factors that affect the characteristics of paper, one of which is the wood harvesting age. In this study, the bulk and tensile strength characteristics of paper will be analysed on Eucalyptus paper with various wood harvesting ages. Based on the experiment, Eucalyptus paper with a harvest age of 4 years has a bulk of 2.29 m3/g and a tensile strength of 27.89 kN/m. Meanwhile, Eucalyptus paper with a harvest age of 5 years has a bulk of 2.55 m3/g and a tensile strength of 25.66 kN/m. It can be concluded that bulk and tensile strength have an inversely proportional relationship. Based on the experiments conducted, paper produced using the unbleached primary fibre kraft method is suitable as a raw material for paper, tissue, and other hygiene products.
