Material Balance Pada Impregnation-Bin Dan Digester Berdasarkan L/W Ratio
ABSTRACT
One of the important parameters in the cooking process is the liquor to wood
ratio (L/W ratio) which is the ratio between the volume of cooking liquid and the
mass of wood used. An imbalance in the material balance in the impbin &
digester unit can cause problems such as excess chemical liquor for the cooking
process, chips that do not cook evenly. In this research, the focus is on discussing
the effect of L/W ratio on material balance and calculating impregnation
efficiency in the impregnation-bin & digester unit, as well as studying the
relationship of the difference between Impbin Extraction (IE) and Top Impbin (TI)
to impregnation efficiency. Based on the results obtained, the L/W ratio directly
affects the material balance because it determines the amount of liquid needed to
achieve an optimal chemical reaction, as well as the distribution of heat and mass
during the process, the impregnation efficiency value is between 89.2% as the
highest value and 60.8% as the lowest value. and the higher the difference
between Impbin Extraction (IE) and Top Impbin (TI), the higher the efficiency will
be.
