Meminimalisir Down Time Tying Machine Pada Baling Line Di Pulp Dryer
ABSTRACT
The baling line is the final stage of the process in the Pulp Dryer. At this stage, bales are packed into 1 unit with a weight of 2020 ± 9kg per unit and a height of 168 cm – 170 cm. The baling line often experiences downtime, which results in lost production time. This observation was conducted with the aim of minimizing downtime of the tying machine in the baling line of Pulp Dryer 4. The data collection method used was based on secondary data. Secondary data is obtained from the Process Engineer (PE) and analyzed using Pareto diagrams and fishbone diagrams. The causes of downtime on the tying machine in the baling line from April to September 2024 were identified as Plug Up (81 minutes) and Change Wire (54 minutes). Based on the fishbone analysis, these two issues should be prioritized for improvement to prevent prolonged downtime. To minimize downtime on the tying machine, the following factors must be addressed: human factors by providing training to employees to enhance their skills, machine factors by performing routine maintenance on the machine, method factors by following operational standards in the area, inveromet factors by cleaning the machine at the end of each shift to prevent dust buildup that could hinder machine operation, and material factors by selecting high-quality materials for the product.
